Answered on 23rd May '24
Hello, As per our knowledge, Kienbock disease also known as avascular necrosis in which the lunate bone, one of eight bones in the wrist, suffers the blood loss which leads to death of the bone. Basically, the treatment options depend upon the severity of the disease.
In the early stages, the treatment can be observation or immobilization. And for more advanced stages, usually, surgery is recommended. Hand therapy is only designed to relieve pain and restore function and not for changing the course of the disease. For further and better treatment, you can consult any orthopedist.

These surgeries are done a few months apart. This staged approach helps one knee to recover before the second surgery. The main advantage of a this procedure is the reduced risk of complications and also requires a shorter hospital stay. Either surgery may involve any combination of total knee replacement or partial knee replacement. The risks associated with this surgery: infection, blood clots, failure of the artificial joint, heart attack etc. Post surgery care, rehabilitation is very important. Hope our answer helps you.
