Knee replacement surgery is done to replace the damaged joints so patient is relieved of symptoms. The knee joint with an artificial knee called prosthesis made of metal, plastic, and ceramic. It helps to restore function of the damaged knee and relieve arthritis pain. Knee replacement surgery is advised if the pain is interfering with your daily activities and negatively affecting your quality of life. Types of knee replacement surgery Simultaneous bilateral knee replacement - When both knees are replaced at the same time. The primary advantage of a procedure is that there is only one hospital stay and one rehabilitation period to heal both knees. But rehabilitation may be slower. Also these patients may need assistance at home also. Generalized fitness is important here. Staged bilateral knee replacement- Each knee is replaced at a different time. These surgeries are done a few months apart. This staged approach helps one knee to recover before the second surgery. The main advantage of a this procedure is the reduced risk of complications and also requires a shorter hospital stay. However, since this procedure requires two surgeries, the overall rehabilitation period can be longer. Either surgery may involve any combination of total knee replacement or partial knee replacement. The risks associated with this surgery: infection, blood clots, failure of the artificial joint, heart attack etc. Post surgery care, rehabilitation is very important. Hope our answer helps you. I am a 17-year-old female who is recovering from a mild knee ligament stretch. I had a splint for 2 weeks and had been recovering for over a month. Yesterday, I played badminton because my knee felt good. However, I had an awkward fall and twisted my knee. It hurt at first, but I can walk and climb stairs relatively normally. It hurts when I fully straighten my knee or tighten it. There is no buckling of the knee. The pain is a little achey and a little dull. I don't know which one exactly. What should I do? Is it okay if I resume normal activities, but just be more careful and elevate my leg when I sit or lie down?
Female | 17
You might have twisted your knee again while playing badminton. Aching dull pain when you try to straighten or tighten your knee could mean the ligament has been pulled too hard. It’s great that you can still walk and go upstairs. To let it get better, you should rest as much as possible, put your leg up from time to time, and avoid doing anything too hard for a while.

Im a 20 year old female . i have been having rib pain, shoulder pain when i breath and bend over and eat for the last few days . my right r Side lower back hurts .
Female | 20
Discomfort can manifest through rib pain, shoulder aches, back discomfort on the right side, and challenges in breathing or bending when eating. These indicators could stem from muscle strain, digestive issues, or potential rib injury. For relief, consider resting, applying warmth, and utilizing over-the-counter pain medication. However, if the distress persists, visit an orthopedist.

i’m an 18 year old female i’ve had shoulder pain for 7-8 months ever since a truck hood fell on me it’s cause serious pain and otc medication doesn’t help. i’ve gotten scans but no results back yet.
Female | 18
This may occur due to torn muscles or because the tendons gained injuries. Unrelenting pain might require more therapeutic medications, such as physiotherapy, and it can also go to surgery if the scan shows the result. You took the right path first to have the scans done. Take breaks ask for help, and visit an orthopedist.

I have mild scoliosis is it treatable Is exercise is a good treatment for mild scoliosis
Male | 18
Mild scoliosis is when your spine curves sideways. This twisting condition can cause back discomfort, make one shoulder or hip higher than the other, and make you get tired faster. Exercising helps strengthen spine muscles, improving posture. So focus on stretches and strengthening moves for that curved spine. But remember, regular orthopedist checkups monitor scoliosis progress. They ensure the right steps are taken for your specific curve's treatment.

Tailbone pain treatment required
Male | 33
Tailbone pain, or coccydynia, is a real discomfort for many. It typically manifests as tenderness or aching at the bottom of the spine. It can be caused by long sitting, falling, or childbirth. To alleviate this, you can try using a cushion while you sit, practicing not sitting for a long time, and doing simple exercises. Generally, the pain should heal on its own. If it still happens to persist, it is best to consult an orthopedic doctor for more help.

Hi, I'm taking 1.5ml of Testosterone Ethanate 300mg/ml once per week but I'm due to get a cortisone injection in my hand for trigger finger in 2 weeks time. Will this be ok to have whilst I'm taking this?
Male | 40
Testosterone Ethanate (T.E.) is a hormone, while cortisone is a medication used to reduce inflammation. Getting a cortisone injection for the trigger finger shouldn't be an issue while on T.E., as they work differently in the body. However, always inform your orthopedist about all medications you're taking. Trigger finger occurs due to tendon inflammation, causing fingers to get stuck in a bent position. A corticosteroid injection can reduce the inflammation and relieve symptoms.

Foot bone rising happens due to severe pain and swelling. It can result from wounds or injuries, or excessive usage. Heavy lifting may also cause it. Resting, elevating feet can help. Soaking feet in ginger or saltwater, keeping them cool brings relief. Consult an orthopedist if discomfort persists.

I got recently surgery for my femur hip on right side I'm in bed rest now but my left hip is also hurting from few days don't know why is this a serious condition
Female | Aruna
This can be one of the situations, when the other hip might feel some pain because it takes over the bigger role of supporting your body while your operation-induced leg is at rest. Don't forget about changing positions and doing small exercises for your left hip to avoid stiffness. Nonetheless, if the severity of the pain grows or the situation doesn't vanish, connect with your orthopedist.

Hi, I fell over and hurt my ankle 3 weeks ago. It is still swollen. I can walk on it without pain but have pain after when I sit down just wondering if I should seek medical attention h have been ice rest elevation and compression it
Female | 20
Caring for your ankle by icing, resting, elevating, and compressing is wise. However, swelling lasting 3 weeks raises concern. Walking pain-free is positive, yet sitting discomfort hints at lingering issues. Consult an orthopedist to rule out serious problems. Meanwhile, continue icing, resting and elevating.

Right hip subchondral sclerosis with fewill defindradiolucent areasnoted inhead of right femur
Male | 34
Subchondral sclerosis is when the bone becomes harder. Radiolucent areas are places where the bone isn’t as dense. These changes can cause pain and stiffness in the hip area. They may occur because of natural aging processes and wear and tear on our bodies over time. To relieve these symptoms, try doing exercises or going for physical therapy sessions.

Iam 21 years old male backache for 2 months and some health issues that I don't understand what should I do?
Male | 21
Back injury's roots can be different, due to incorrect body posture, overworked muscles, or stress. Any other signs you may have, including numbness or tingling in your legs, are equally important to listen to. Attempting to correct your posture, and undertake light stretching exercises, and hot or cold packs may also be beneficial for pain relief. When the pain does not diminish, it is advisable to consult an orthopedist for a second opinion and treatment.

Hi I am Nantha 27yrs old I had injury in my ring finger inflamed I can't do any work if I move my finger I can hear sound it's so painful
Male | 27
This can be because of the finger getting hurt or overused. Inflammation makes the movement of the finger painful and also popping sounds are produced. Resting your finger, applying ice, and taking painkillers like Ibuprofen can be helpful. If the pain persists, visit an orthopedist for a more appropriate treatment.
