Can a healthy teen die suddenly in sleep?
Can a healthy teen (17) with no symptoms or signs die suddenly in sleep

General Physician
Answered on 17th Mar '25
While it’s rare for teens without any symptoms to experience sudden death during sleep, underlying heart conditions or sleep disorders can sometimes lead to unexpected events. Common signs to watch for include unexplained fainting, chest pain, or severe fatigue. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle—regular exercise, balanced diet, and adequate sleep—can help minimize risks. It’s essential to schedule regular check-ups with a pediatrician for peace of mind and to discuss any concerns. Always prioritize professional guidance to ensure comprehensive understanding and support for well-being.

Hi. I've a question regarding my niece's skin problem. She is a 7-years old. She has developed red patches of skin on her cheek, chin and around nose. The affected area of her cheek is very dry. I brought her to a doctor who prescribed two creams, mezoderm(betamethasone) and gentamicin-akos which made things far worse. Then at the pharmacy I was advised to use ftorokart(also a cream with triamcinolone) for my niece's face. After a few uses of the cream, I've seen some noticeable improvement in her skin condition since she started to use it. It took the redness out of her nose. But she still has rash and blisters on her face. I took photos of her face in case it might be helpful for you to identify the reason for her skin condition. Here are the photos of hers: https://ibb.co/q9t8bSL https://ibb.co/Q8rqcr1 https://ibb.co/JppswZw https://ibb.co/Hd9LPkZ Would you mind helping us to identify what caused this skin condition?
Female | 7
According to the symptoms and signs described, it appears to be a case of atopic dermatitis which is common among children of the mentioned age. It is a condition where the skin barrier is disturbed and is extremely sensitive to external environmental triggers like cold and dry weather, dust etc. It presents as red dry itchy patches on cheeks, hands and legs sometimes whole body. The above mentioned creams contain topical corticosteroids which are to be used with a great caution under the supervision of Dermatologist. Good barrier repairing creams including emollients with squalene, ceramides etc can help reviving the skin barrier. Steroid sparing drugs can be prescribed to manage the rash. Please consult a qualified Dermatologist and do not use topical corticosteroids without doctor’s advice as it may cause many adverse effects.

bedwetting problem all my life
Male | 25
Experiencing nighttime leakage can be frustrating, but it’s important to know you’re not alone. This issue, often termed nocturnal enuresis, may stem from various factors like genetic predisposition, deep sleep, or developmental delays in bladder control. Lifestyle changes, such as limiting fluids before bedtime and maintaining a calming bedtime routine, might help. Additionally, bladder training exercises can be beneficial. It’s crucial, however, to consult with a physician for personalized guidance and to rule out any underlying conditions.

My baby suffering from fever cough and cold from past 1day and she hve 100 temperature fever.
Female | 1
Babies get sick sometimes, it's normal. Your little one's fever, cough and cold likely stem from a virus. That 100-degree fever means her body battles infection. Ensure she rests up, hydrates well. If her doctor says okay, give acetaminophen for fever relief. However, if symptoms drag on or intensify, it's wise to have her pediatrician examine her.

My child vomited 3 times last night, today he refuses food, he is indisposed, he doesn't want anything
Male | 3
Your kid seems to be not epic at all. If a child throws up multiple times and then says he does not want to eat, it could be possible that his tummy is upset. This can be many things such as a tummy bug or food intolerance. The best thing you can do is keep him hydrated with small sips of water and let his tummy rest by avoiding food for a bit. You should take him to a pediatrician.

Female | 30
Feeling feverish for 10 nights in a row is tough. You might get very weak also. There is a probability that this is the result of an infection or a disease-causing the body to have a fever. It's important to take breaks from work, drink lots of water, and eat easily digestible and healthy food like soup. When the fever doesn't go away, it's time to go to the doctor so they can find out what's wrong and give you the right treatment to feel better fast.

Male | 8
It sounds like you may be experiencing a condition called phimosis, where the foreskin cannot be easily retracted. This is common in young boys. Often, it resolves naturally as you grow. It's usually not a concern unless it causes pain, inflammation, or difficulty with hygiene. Maintaining cleanliness is important. I recommend talking to a pediatrician for personalized guidance. They can assess if any treatment is necessary and offer the best options.

My daughter aged 6 yrs 10 months .She is suffering from pain in mid of chest everyday after dinner.sometimes she feels some burning in throat We are giving her antacids likeRantac, sucralfate,Gelusuil. But no relief. What can we do?
Female | 44
Your daughter's chest discomfort and throat burning after dinner are concerning. These could indicate acid reflux, when stomach acid rises into the esophagus. Sometimes, antacids aren't enough. Try smaller meals, avoid spicy/acidic foods. Also, elevate her bed's headrest. This may reduce symptoms. If issues persist, consult a cardiologist. They can recommend treatments or evaluate further.
