Could my missed periods and inconclusive tests indicate pregnancy?

Patient's Query

Hi i havent got my periods for 4 months now. I took 2 pregnancy tests and then 1 line was dark and the other one light then i went to the doctor then it was negative the also pulled blood and that was also negative.

Answered by Dr. Nisarg Patel

It’s understandable to feel concerned about a missed period. Various factors can lead to this, including hormonal imbalances, stress, weight changes, or medical conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Since your tests have shown negative results, it’s crucial to keep an open line of communication with your gynecologist. They can conduct further evaluations to identify any underlying issues and recommend appropriate treatments, lifestyle adjustments, or management options.

Confused about Implantation Bleeding or Menses

Female | 20

Implantation bleeding is a light discharge that is caused when a fertilized egg attaches itself to the wall of the uterus. It usually happens 6-12 days after ovulation and it can be confused with a light period. Nevertheless, noticeable blood loss or very strong pain may indicate a more severe problem. If you have any concern, please visit a gynecologist for a thorough examination.

The light bleeding and vaginal itching could likely be attributed to a post-D&C infection. I would recommend you go for a gynecological examination and treatment.
