Hi, my mother has Osteoarthritis and thus she suffers from chronic knee pain. Just wanted to know how effective stem cell therapy may be in her case. I also have a few doubts listed below: What are the benefits of stem cell therapy for osteoarthritis (if any)? What is the down-time after the procedure? My mother is a teacher and doesn't have the provision to take too many leaves. How much a procedure like this likely to cost?

As per my understanding you want to know stem cell treatment for knee osteoarthritis. Recently one of the companies has announced that it has received approval from FDA, for clinical trial, for use of stem cell therapy for knee osteoarthritis. So results of stem cell therapy for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis are still awaited. Consult an orthopedic, who on examining the patient will guide you with the best treatment available for the patient. Consult Orthopedic Physiotherapy doctors in Mumbai, or any other city which you feel will be better. Hope this has helped you.

Stage 1, 2 OA and sometimes stage 3 OA may benfit from Stem Cell Therapy. But no concrete evidence on this. Yet its a safe method and can be tried.

I noticed a kind of lump on my left leg last year. It started out small in like July but eventually got a big bigger (noticed the growth in November) and the area turned black. I took Clindamycin for a while and the lump reduced, it's no longer there. This year, a few weeks ago, I noticed a small lump on the same leg above the former place (like the middle of my leg). There's also a kind of bump on my tibi (I can feel it) and there's a spot above my knee, at the side, that's painful to the touch. I have Sickle Cell Disease and in 2016, I had a surgery to remove my left fibula. I had Chronic Osteomyelitis.
Female | 23
It’s good to hear that the previous lump improved with treatment. Your current symptoms, including the new lump and pain, may be related to previous conditions or other factors. Sickle Cell Disease can sometimes lead to issues like infections or bone problems. Monitoring changes in your body is important, and since you've had previous complications, I recommend consulting your gastroenterologist to evaluate these new changes. They can offer tailored advice and determine whether further investigation or treatment is needed.

Injury on the leg caused by stepping on a nail
Male | 4
If you step on a nail, wash the spot with soap and water right away. This cleans the cut. Then put a new bandage on it. Check the cut every day. Look for signs of infection. That can mean redness, feeling hot, or pus coming out. If you see those things, go to the doctor fast. They can give you medicine to keep the infection from getting worse.

A slight error occurred - you injected two medicines together. This could irritate, or impact how the medicines function. Monitor for redness, swelling, and pain at the injection site. If any of these symptoms arise, promptly consult a doctor.

I am 39 years old and have been experiencing back pain for over 2 years. About a year ago, I started feeling pain in my lower back, which eventually subsided, but for the past 3 to 4 months, the pain has returned and now extends to my thigh and leg. When I wake up, the pain improves after some movement. I find it difficult to sleep straight in bed due to lipomas on my side waist that cause discomfort when pressed, resulting in pain. When I get out of bed, my body aches, and my legs feel weak and painful. Occasionally, I take a Nimesulide tablet, which provides relief for 5 to 6 days. Additionally, I experience pain in different parts of my body on different days, such as my chest, arms, and neck. What should I do?
Male | 40
The pain radiating from the lumbar region to the hip and leg is likely to be a sciatica, which is caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve. Thus it is advisable to wear proper clothes. The lipomas may also be located on your side waist. It is so important to have a thorough evaluation by an orthopedist to establish the exact cause of your symptoms and create a proper management plan.

Conclusion: Hypointense fracture of the metaphysis of the tibia proximally with stress edema of the bone. Moderate suprapatellar and minor intra-articular effusion. Irritation of suprapatellar fat. ACL femoral condyle distension. Possible partial rupture of the anterior root of the lateral meniscus. Distension of the proximal tibiofibular joint.
Female | 27
After going through your tests, it looks like the shinbone is fractured near the joint with a gradually progressive fracture inside the bone. Besides, there is liquid in the knee with some tension in the fat pad over the patella. The anterior ligament of the knee may be strained and the meniscus, a disc in the knee, may have a minor tear. The bones are separated, namely the shinbone, and the smaller leg bones are stretched. This will bring about pain, swelling, and at times impaired mobility of the knee. Resting, elevating the lower limb, using ice, and probably a brace could be an excellent start for a cure. In some situations, physiotherapy or surgery might be required for the knee to become stronger and better. You mustn't put any weight on the leg with the problem no matter what until an orthopedist advises the opposite.

I am a 19 years old girl and have been experiencing extreme discomfort and pain in my upper back, specially at night and after smoking. I have also been going through shortness of breath after doing exercise and regular walks I havent taken any pills or done anything differently what should I do?
Female | 19
The pain in your upper back, especially at night and after smoking, along with breathlessness after exercises, could be a sign of a lung or heart problem. These symptoms are also the cause of concern, which is why it is important to have an orthopedist check you as soon as possible. These symptoms may be due to inflammation in the lungs or heart, which in turn, requires medical treatment.

I would advise consulting with an orthopedic surgeon focusing on hand surgery. Delaying the care seeking should be avoided and even more so when Medicaid can reimburse treatment costs.

Gout happens when uric acid builds up. It can cause pain, swelling, and redness. Your uric acid level is slightly high at 4.83 mg/dL. The doctor prescribed Febumin-80 tablets to lower it. Follow their advice closely. Watch what you eat to manage gout.

The toe might be painful, swollen, bruised, or hard to move, which are all the symptoms of a toe injury. To accelerate the recovery process, you may rest, put ice to the swollen area, lift your foot, and use analgesics by mouth if necessary. If pain persists do consult an orthopedist.
