Could I have air embolism from IUI insertion?
I did at home IUI on Friday and didn’t realise there was air in the syringe and blew some in my vagina and now I’m worried about an air embolism
Gynecologist/Obstetrician
Answered on 27th Aug '24
Air embolism is the condition when air bubbles get into your blood vessels and can be quite dangerous. But, don't worry too much. In your case, that is highly unlikely. Symptoms would include chest pain, trouble breathing, and dizziness. You look okay for now, but if any symptoms appear, do not wait to get help.

Is mifestad 10 effective as an emergency contraceptive pill? It's a pill made from Vietnam.
Female | 23
As for Mifestad 10, it is not an emergency birth control pill. Emergency contraceptive pills can either contain levonorgestrel or ulipristal acetate. If you have had unprotected sex, it's best to use a recognized emergency contraceptive pill to prevent pregnancy. Remember the greater the time between unprotected intercourse and the taking of emergency contraception, the less effective it is.

My pregnant wife legs keep on swelling up while she is just 5month pregnant
Female | 22
During the 5th month, leg swelling can occur due to fluid retention and pressure on veins from the growing baby, slowing circulation and causing fluid buildup. To alleviate this, recommend elevating legs, remaining active, and wearing support stockings. Importantly, discuss it with her gynecologist.

I had a surgical abortion. I bled for 2 weeks after that 2 weeks I had unprotected sex I was fine. But this time after the unprotected sex I bled
Female | 19
Some probable causes are Cervical sensitivity after a surgical abortion, which can lead to easy bleeding, and Cervical bleeding a bit after sex too. If bleeding doesn’t stop or gets worse, it is important to discuss it with a gynecologist who will check to see if everything is okay.

Female | 22
Late periods and breast pain can be concerning but it's common and can have various reasons. Breast pain mostly occurs due to hormonal changes such as before periods. Stress, diet changes, or medications can also affect periods. Make sure to chill, eat well, and exercise. If the problem persists or gets worse you may want to see a gynecologist.

I had sex on my period and 2 days later I saw a huge strange shaped bloodclot
Female | 24
Blood clots during your period are common, especially after sex. The flow may get clotted, with varying shapes and sizes. This is typically normal, not alarming. Clots can look odd, yet still be regular. However, severe pain, heavy bleeding, or unusual symptoms require medical attention. Contact a gynecologist if this occurs.

Actually my periods won't stop and last 5days just finished my periods and then suddenly my periods came out and this time not too much flow but it's looks like white discharge but colour is lighten red so basically my question is is that normal
Female | 22
It seems you’re experiencing some changes in your periods, which can be challenging. If you notice a light reddish discharge after your period ends, it could be due to hormonal imbalances you're going through. This might cause spotting or light bleeding that looks white or pinkish. It’s usually not a serious issue, but if you’re concerned or it continues, it might be a good idea to talk to a gynecologist.

It is entirely natural to have period pain, including if your period has not yet come. This period of pain represents the ups and downs our body goes through with hormones as they change. I am 22 years old and I get my periods twice in a month and I also have brown discharge before my periods start
Female | 22
Menstruating twice a month and experiencing brown discharge before periods might be the result of hormonal disturbances or issues related to your ovary. You may also experience cramps, mood swings, and being tired. A gynecologist is the one who will diagnose your condition and start you on the right treatment.

I've been bleeding for 7 days during 1 month pregnancy
Female | 27
Spotting in early pregnancy can cause worry, yet does not always signal trouble. At times, light bleeding may arise from the embryo attaching itself to the uterine lining. However, inform your gynecologist regarding any bleeding during pregnancy. They may want to assess and ensure everything progresses as expected.

I am currently on the Evra birth control patches. I put one on once a week for three weeks and on the 4th week I wear none and get my period. However I am on holidays and forgot to bring my patches. I currently have my week 1 patch on and the time has come to change it, what should i do ?
Female | 18
If you have missed more than 24 hours of the change time that was determined for you, then your protection against pregnancy might not be optimal. It is therefore advisable to use an alternative contraceptive method for the next one week and immediately seek medical attention from your obstetrician-gynecologist. They can also tell you what to do further and ensure that you are still safe from pregnancy.

What to expect 4 months after hysterectomy?
Male | 45
After a hysterectomy, the recovery period will significantly improve after four months. Most women find less pain, better movement and back to normal life. Hormonal changes may still occur, and emotions about the transformations occurring in reproductive health might not settle. It is important to make regular follow-up appointments with your Doctor for monitoring of overall well being and addressing any concerns that might be developed during the recovery process.

Why can't I sleep during my periods?
Female | 22
It is quite usual for a girl to have a hard time sleeping during her period. One of the major factors behind this is hormonal changes. During menstruation, your body releases more prostaglandins, which can lead to cramps and affect your sleep patterns. You can also have problems sleeping because of the feeling of fullness, irritation, and anxiety. To feel better, one may try drinking calming tea, applying a heating pad, and relaxing around bedtime.
