Nosebleeds can be a common side effect that occurs post breast cancer treatments as they lower your platelet count. Platelets tend to collect at the site of injury and they usually make the blood clot. But as these treatments decrease your platelet count, they thus make you bleed on especially your nose.
To prevent your nose from bleeding:
- Avoid itching or blowing your nose for 24 hours following the initial bleed.
- Install a humidifier or vaporizer in your house to add moisture to the air, same is advised to keep your nose from drying as a dry nose is more prone to bleeding.
- Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), but discuss with your doctor.
Mostly contact your doctor, but otherwise, you can look out for other oncologists for second opinions - Oncologist In India.
