If ear is blocked, what should we do?

If the ear blockage is prevalent due to mucus trapped in the middle of the ear, then try this trick - take a deep breath and block your nostrils following that, simultaneously, keep your mouth closed as well, then unblock your nostrils and attempt to exhale. This should create some pressure to unclog the ear. Don’t blow too hard to avoid damaging your eardrum. Once you feel unclogging, chew a gum or suck on hard a candy so as to keep it opened.
Steaming, or placing warm wash cloth over your ears can help too.
You can use ear drops as well, for blockage caused due to mucus or even for that caused due to ear wax.
If this problem persists even after a week then contact doctor, do not ignore this problem as it could be some ear infection, or acoustic neuroma as well.
Acoustic neuroma is slow growing tumor found in cranial nerve leading from ears to brain.

Can you use polymyxin b sulfate neomycin sulfate dexamethasone on both ears? They hurt alternately but not all the time. A doctor gave me the prescription but she only said apply to one ear
Female | 40
Ear infections can happen and go away. The medicine helps reduce pain and swelling. Use it properly, one ear at a time. See if it assists with discomfort. If concerns persist or pain stays, inform an ENT specialist immediately. Follow instructions carefully for the best results. Consistent treatment prevents worsening symptoms. Don't hesitate to update your physician if issues remain.

Good evening. I had a sore throat on Thursday. The next two days I had no symptoms except Sunday and then I have a mild headache that worsens with vigorous movements and weakened mucus. It is accompanied by green mucus and fevers (mainly in the afternoon for the last two days) ranging from 36.9°C to 37.7°C. Can you tell me what to do to deal with it and what are the possible causes as I am worried? Thanks!"
Male | 15
You have a sore throat, headache, green mucus, and fevers. These symptoms can belong to the respiratory infection and can be treated with antibiotic rest and a lot of fluids. It's necessary to stay hydrated, sleep properly, and think about using a humidifier. If symptoms continue, it's a good idea to visit an ENT doctor.

You appear to be suffering from a typical cold or allergies. Sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes can be due to allergens like dust or pollen. Nasal congestion and itching can also be due to a viral infection. To help ease your symptoms, try drinking plenty of water, resting, and using over-the-counter antihistamines. If symptoms persist or worsen, the best option is to consult an ENT doctor.

I have glandular fever and was wondering if I should go into hospital or if there’s anything I can do to lessen the symptoms as my tonsils are very swollen and it hurts to talk and swallow my saliva as well as eat and drink
Female | 17
Glandular fever, also known as infectious mononucleosis, could be causing your symptoms. This viral illness makes tonsils swell and hurt badly. You may have a sore throat, swollen glands, and feel exhausted. To ease discomfort, rest well, drink plenty of fluids, and take pain medication if needed. If swallowing is difficult, eat soft foods and avoid rough or spicy items. Consult an ENT doctor if symptoms worsen.

Blockage of ear, ear sensitivity of noise and tinnitus is apart of pregnancy symptoms? I’m 9 months pregnant
Female | 42
It is quite common to have ear symptoms such as blockage, sensitivity to noise, and tinnitus during pregnancy. These changes are caused by the additional blood flow and hormonal fluctuations that affect your ears. Besides, you may also notice that your hearing changes. First, try a warm compress on your ear and avoid loud noises. If the symptoms persist, mention them to an ENT specialist.

If you have a sensation of fullness and muffled hearing along with a beeping sound, you may have a condition called tinnitus. A sensation of tinnitus may be due to some causes like ear infections, loud noises, or even stress. To this end, you should avoid exposure to loud sounds, manage stress, and consider seeking advice from an ENT doctor for further evaluation.

I have stuffy and runny nose since 3 weeks, have been using decongestants that provided some relief, but since last 3 days it is worse, continues runny nose all day, at the same time the nose is stuffy and heavy. Mucus from runny nose is mostly clear. In the morning I might cough out some yellow mucus.
Female | 37
You may have sinusitis or a sinus infection. Stuffy and runny nose with clear mucus are common symptoms of sinusitis. The yellow mucus that you cough up in the morning is a sign that it may be bacterial. To relieve congestion, try applying a warm compress across your face and seek medical attention for further assessment.

I’ve been having thick dark reddish brown some ties almost black nasal drainage it pours out of my nose and I have absolutely no control over it it’s worse at nights it will sometimes leave my bedding soaking wet to where I have to change it every night and I sometimes go through a whole box of tissues this has been going on since early January mostly just draining at night
Female | 26
Maybe your nasal symptoms suggest chronic rhinosinusitis. Thick, dark reddish-brown mucus can flow uncontrollably, often worse at night. Inflamed sinuses likely cause this issue. Saline sprays may provide relief. Consulting an ENT doctor helps evaluate and treat the underlying problem.

I am suffering from nasal allergy for 3 years. It goes away after taking medicine. But it comes back again.Want to get rid of it completely. What to do?
Male | 36
Nasal allergies can bring along to you some symptoms like sneezing, a runny nose, and itchy eyes. They are mostly caused by things such as dust, pollen, or pet dander. To help you get rid of your allergies entirely, you can first try to avoid triggers as much as possible, keep your living space clean, and consider discussing allergy shots with an allergist to help your body build up a tolerance to the allergens over time.

If we have cough in our neck what to do
Female | 65
If you have been feeling like something is tickling or causing discomfort in your throat, it could be an irritation on your throat. This irritation is usually caused by a common cold, allergies, or food particles getting stuck in the back of the mouth and then traveling down into the esophagus. Other symptoms may include a dry cough without phlegm production; hoarseness (speaking with difficulty in voice due to swelling); or pain when swallowing. If any of them persists too long or worsens over time then visit an ENT specialist.

This can happen if objects are pushed too far into the ear canal. The ear with the pain might have the object lodged deeper or be more sensitive. It's important not to try to remove it yourself as that can lead to further complications. Please take her to an ENT specialist. They will be able to see the ear properly using special tools and safely remove the trapped object.

I went to a ENT specialist last week who removed some earwax plug from my right ear. Since last week my ear feels itchy inside sometimes, whenever I start being active with it (moving it or touching it with my finger). What can be the cause ? Probably not earwax as I went to the doctor last week.
Male | 31
The ear getting treated for wax buildup is fantastic news! However, itchiness in the ear canal post-procedure may occur. This results from skin irritation caused by disturbance during cleaning. Don't insert objects or scratch inside your ear. This discomfort should subside naturally. But if symptoms worsen, consult your ENT specialist immediately.
