What should I do if my brother has fits?
My family are on a trip to god's place and My brother got fits today like 3 times and he is behaving abnormal...what can we do?
Neurosurgeon
Answered on 11th June '24
Your brother may have had seizures, which are also called fits, and can make people behave strangely. There are many reasons why seizures occur – for instance, epilepsy or a high fever. If you see someone having a seizure, put them down gently on their side so that they don’t get hurt. Don’t try to hold his tongue or put anything in his mouth. Keep calm throughout this period then seek medical attention immediately after it is over. Finding out what caused him to convulse is important as well as getting him treated appropriately.

My mother had a stroke on her right side a week ago Tuesday , she was still talking , memory was intact . After been Zyprexa, Antivan was administered by a nurse. She couldn't talk nor open eyes Thursday morning. Saturday she started responding but after given dextrose she was not responding no more. Nor able to move her right arm due to a blood clot from IV ...what is wrong with my mother
Female | 63
It seems that your mother experienced a stroke on her right side, which initially affected her ability to talk but left her memory intact. It's possible that the administration of Zyprexa (an antipsychotic medication) and Ativan (a sedative) may have been done to manage symptoms related to the stroke, such as agitation or anxiety.

Actually my father had a mini stroke last week. After that we visited doctor they did ct scan and ecg tests. Everything was normal but the ct scan report said that in the left side of brain its little bit injured due to high blood pressure. Now, from 5-6 days he is unable to do any work with his right hand, rest everything is ok. And also he forgot his atm pin, where he kept documents and all.
Male | 47
It sounds like he might have experienced a small stroke (mini-stroke or TIA). It's good that the CT scan and ECG were normal, but the injury on the left side of the brain could be causing the weakness in his right hand and memory issues. I would advise you to consult a neurologist for further evaluation and management.

Inner ear diseases, headaches and migraines, low blood pressure and some medications can cause dizziness or abnormal visual perceptions such as the illusion of movement. A neurologist should be consulted for the right diagnosis and treatment.

I am a 23-year-old female and for the past two days I am not able to sleep at night I am staying awake till 4 o clock and after that, I am getting to sleep slowly the thing is while trying to sleep I am getting some irritation or some goosebumps kind of sensation. during the daytime also I am having this sensation but its not effecting me much because I will be involved in some work and if I am trying to take rest let's say sleeping at night that irritation is effecting me a lot what might be the reason.
Female | 23
Sleep difficulties and sensations of irritation or goosebumps could be due to many factors. It's essential to establish a relaxing bedtime routine, maintain a consistent sleep schedule, and create a comfortable sleeping environment. Reducing stress through relaxation techniques and avoiding stimulants can also help improve your sleep. If the problem persists, consider consulting a neurology professional or a sleep specialist from known hospitals for further evaluation and guidance.

I JUST NOTICED I HAD NOSEBLEED THIS MORNING, FEW DROPS OF BLOOD FROM MY RIGHT NOISTRIL. I WIPED AND IT STOPPED. PLEASE WHAT COULD BE THE CAUSE?

It’s important to understand that post-concussion symptoms can sometimes be complex and vary from person to person. Your nosebleed might be unrelated, but it could also be linked to stress or changes in your body after the concussion. I strongly recommend seeing a neurologist or an ENT specialist for a proper evaluation and guidance for your symptoms.

Hello, I am suffering from muscle weakness of hands and legs for 2 weeks. 4 days ago doctor confirmed that I have GBS (AMAN) by NCS and CSF study test. But my physical condition is better than most other patient. I am explaining my conditions to you : - I can walk but slowly and not like normal me - I can stand up from sitting on the bed - I can't stand up from sitting on the floor - I can't stand up from sitting on the sofa - I can lift a highest 500 ml bottle with hands - I can eat like a normal person but I have to give a little pressure in the neck - I can't cough with the full strength My condition is improving a little day by day. Doctor haven't suggested IVIG or Plasma exchange for the treatment. They said I will be cured by only Physiotherapy and Exercise. What are your comments about my physical condition ? Can you suggest me something for that will help me to recover soon ? Thanks is Advance...
Male | 22
This may cause weakness in the muscles of the hands and legs. I am glad that you are getting better. What has been recommended by your doctor is very important- physiotherapy and exercise. These two things can strengthen your muscles and help you regain your ability to move around. Ensure that you strictly adhere to what they say and remember that healing will take time so don’t get tired of waiting.

My grandfather age is 69 he had second brain stroke after 3 month now he able to speak slow slow today he got anger and eat food by himself without ask anyone after I ask him is any problem you in eat he said no problem and easy to eat . so please doctor suggest me can we start giving him food by mouth
Male | 69
It is quite predictable for a person who had a stroke for the second time to have trouble speaking and experiencing behavior changes. The good thing is that he ate without any problem which is a way forward. His improved swallowing ability is reflected in his independent eating skills. It's necessary to lay a good basis by cutting out soft foods and liquids to avoid choking. Let him carry out the process of swallowing without being rushed. It's recommended that a speech therapist or a healthcare provider be the one to provide him with a diet plan that he must follow carefully.

I am a 35 year old woman. Recently gave birth through c-section on the 3rd of October. 4or 5 days after being discharged from hospital my legs inflamed, then after 2 days they got ok, then I started to have a tingling sensation on my right leg and arm. This passed after some days when I was taking some multi vitamins and returned agai n. Now the intensity of the tingling sensation had reduced bt it was irritating. Should I be worried?
Female | 35
You may be experiencing some postpartum complications. The tingling sensation in your right leg and arm could be because the nerves in the area have been compressed by the way you are sitting or lying down. Although the severity of pain is decreasing, note that you should bring this to the attention of a neurologist to exclude any dangerous problems. Don't forget to stay hydrated and try to move around from time to time.

Male | 17
The left hand pain and chest twitches might indicate thoracic outlet syndrome. This condition arises when neck and chest nerves or blood vessels face pressure. Symptoms like arm and hand pain, numbness, and tingling can occur. Seeing a neurologist for examination and potential treatment to alleviate symptoms is advisable.

Hello, I was wondering if I should schedule a doctor's visit. I had hit the top right side of my head 2 days ago and again today on my right side with the door on accident. I have been feeling nauseous, slight blurry vision, really bad headache on my right side and fatigue. Thank you!
Female | 28
Two recent bumps to your head have caused some unpleasant symptoms: nausea, blurry vision, a headache on the right side, and tiredness. These could be signs of a possible concussion, which happens when the brain shakes from an impact. If your symptoms worsen or continue, please see a neurologist to be safe.

I have been facing severe pain in the veins of my neck
Male | 20
Poor posture, muscle tension, or stress can cause this. Do not sit still for too long and try some light neck exercises. Having a warm bath or using a hot water bottle might also be helpful. If you still feel pain after doing all these or it gets worse, we recommend that you consult with a healthcare professional immediately.

I am 13 year old female and I have a headache and nausea. It started in the evening I cried after that I felt dizzy. I slept and when I woke up I was dizzy and nauseous. Do you know why it is like that?
Female | 13
Feeling headaches and nausea could be from several reasons. You might get this when you’re very upset or stressed because you’ve been crying a lot. Being lightheaded might also make someone feel like throwing up. Perhaps you twisted oddly in sleep or didn’t have enough to drink yesterday. Try lying down in a quiet room for some time; have a glassful of water and eat something small if possible.

Female | 22
Feeling lightheaded, dizzy, and nauseous? That can be tough. If you skipped breakfast, low blood sugar or dehydration could be the reason. Drink some water and have a healthy snack—it should help. But if you still feel dizzy, it's important to see a doctor. In the meantime, focus on staying hydrated and eating something. If these symptoms continue, visit a neurologist.

I am feeling dizziness suddenly
Female | 24
There could be several reasons behind this. Perhaps you’re not taking in enough fluids or stood up too quickly. It may even be an issue with one of your ears such as an infection. The best thing to do is sit down, relax, and have a drink of water. If it keeps happening, talk to a doctor.
