I am trying to find the starting point to getting my knees replaced
Knee replacement surgery is done to replace the damaged joints so patient is relieved of symptoms. The knee joint with an artificial knee called prosthesis made of metal, plastic, and ceramic. It helps to restore function of the damaged knee and relieve arthritis pain. Knee replacement surgery is advised if the pain is interfering with your daily activities and negatively affecting your quality of life. Types of knee replacement surgery Simultaneous bilateral knee replacement - When both knees are replaced at the same time. The primary advantage of a procedure is that there is only one hospital stay and one rehabilitation period to heal both knees. But rehabilitation may be slower. Also these patients may need assistance at home also. Generalized fitness is important here. Staged bilateral knee replacement- Each knee is replaced at a different time. These surgeries are done a few months apart. This staged approach helps one knee to recover before the second surgery. The main advantage of a this procedure is the reduced risk of complications and also requires a shorter hospital stay. However, since this procedure requires two surgeries, the overall rehabilitation period can be longer. Either surgery may involve any combination of total knee replacement or partial knee replacement. The risks associated with this surgery: infection, blood clots, failure of the artificial joint, heart attack etc. Post surgery care, rehabilitation is very important. Hope our answer helps you. What does this MRI mean? Very small right of midline C6-C7 disc herniation. No stenosis. No spinal cord edema or abnormal enhancement. There is a 9 mm right thyroid nodule
Female | 33
MRI with a very small right of midline C6-C7 disc herniation indicates a small protrusion of the spinal disc that lies between the neck bones. There's no abnormal swelling in the spinal cord and no narrowing of the spinal canal. Moreover, the 9 mm right thyroid nodule is seen, which needs to be evaluated by an Endocrinologist. You should book an appointment with an Orthopedist and an Endocrinologist to discuss further diagnosis and treatment.

Since past 2 days suffering through left leg pain with severe hip pain that's also in left side
Female | 17
Your left leg and hip may be bothering you. Pain in both of those places could be caused by something such as sciatica, which is a nerve problem. Another reason might be muscle strain or arthritis. You should rest the area that hurts, put some ice on it, and if it’s bearable, gently stretch. If this doesn’t help, you should see an orthopedist.

I am 15 years old and have had a knee injury for 11 months . It started out as a meniscus injury and that has gotten better. According to my most recent MRI, I have edema , synovitis, and slight injuries to my ligaments. It doesn’t sound severe, but I have difficulty walking normally, and it often cracks, which makes it deteriorate. Also, because of the long duration,my muscles have muscle atrophy. My question is: What do the cracks mean(are they fine or not), and what should I do to recover? Thanks.
Male | 15
Crackling from your knee is fostered by harsh surfaces or air bubbles. Although it’s perfectly normal at times, it could signify a problem if pain or swelling accompanies the snaps. For recovery, gentle exercises along with physical therapy will not only strengthen supporting muscles, leading to better knee stability. Be cautious while moving be sure to stay away from activities that may exacerbate this popping sound. You can also visit an orthopedist.

Hi, I just got my results back from a lumbar MRI and it says I have buldging associated with anular tear discs L4 and L5. And deshidrated discs L4 and L5. What does this mean? Will I get better without surgery? Will I ever get back to normal? Will I ever be able to go back to the gym and cycling? Right now I feel tight and Im in pain no matter the position, it's hard to do normal day activities and to walk kinda long distances, I can't lift anything not even light things and can't bend forward. I WILL take the results to the doctor once I get my paycheck but I wanna get a 2nd opinion in the meantime. Thanks
Female | 26
If you have bulging or herniated discs in your lower back, it can cause pain and stiffness. This is usually due to aging, general “wear and tear,” or injury. Most of these problems can improve with physical therapy, rest, and pain medicine. Surgery may be needed in some cases. Visit an orthopedist to find out the treatment options.

I went to the doctor and they said I had hip flexor tendinitis. I took a steroids for 6 days and I am now taking a non steroid for 30 days. My hip flexor pain has gone away I think because I used to hardly be able to walk because I was in so much pain. But now I can hardly run without pain. I can’t figure out if it’s still my hip flexor or if it’s a pinched nerve in my hip, maybe my femoral nerve or if it’s my IT band. My pain stems from my right hip which I think is inflamed. Whenever I try to lift my leg while sitting down it feels dead weight almost. A pain shoots from my hip all the way down to the side of my shin.
Female | 18
It does sound like you may be having some other condition other than hip flexor tendinitis. It is better to see a orthopedist so that you can get a proper diagnosis. They may suggest advanced imaging tests or diagnostic procedures for your pain source.

Female | 30
It sounds like you're experiencing significant back and neck pain, possibly due to misalignments in your spine as shown in your MRI results. These misalignments could be causing pressure on your nerves, leading to your enduring discomfort. I recommend consulting with an orthopedic surgeon or a spine specialist to discuss further treatment options, such as injections or surgery, to alleviate your pain effectively.

Hello i have been experiencing alot of pain on my left hand side for 1 year and 3 months time ....i have had an echo test but all results are good but then the pain perist i dont know why but think i strained my chest muscles because i cant hold heavy objects ..the inside parts of the chest twitches alot i need some asistance
Male | 17
For some time now, you've had pain on your left side. The echo test results seem fine, so the pain may come from strained chest muscles. Twitching in the chest can occur with this condition. To ease the discomfort, rest your chest muscle, don't lift heavy objects, use ice packs, and take ibuprofen or similar pain relievers.

Hi, I'm taking 1.5ml of Testosterone Ethanate 300mg/ml once per week but I'm due to get a cortisone injection in my hand for trigger finger in 2 weeks time. Will this be ok to have whilst I'm taking this?
Male | 40
Testosterone Ethanate (T.E.) is a hormone, while cortisone is a medication used to reduce inflammation. Getting a cortisone injection for the trigger finger shouldn't be an issue while on T.E., as they work differently in the body. However, always inform your orthopedist about all medications you're taking. Trigger finger occurs due to tendon inflammation, causing fingers to get stuck in a bent position. A corticosteroid injection can reduce the inflammation and relieve symptoms.

My mom is having bedsore on tailbone and hips
Female | 84
Your mom has developed bedsores. Sores that hurt on her hips and tailbone. They occur when someone stays still too long. These red, aching spots form from pressure. Not shifting positions frequently causes them. Hard surfaces enable bedsores' formation too. Poor circulation is another factor. To heal bedsores, follow steps. Help your mom change positions regularly. Keep affected regions dry, clean. Use cushions or pads. They reduce pressure on sores.
