If you have any bruising and are worried about infection there are some things to look out for. An infected bruise may become more swollen, red, warm, or painful. If you notice these signs then it could be infected. Gently clean the bruise, apply a clean dressing, and keep an eye on it. If in doubt, get it looked at.

My both feet get swellen suddenly it never happened before... What is the reason for my swellen feet .. And it's not too swellen but still it's been 2 days and my feet is still swollen
Female | 24
Several factors could cause this. Standing too long might swell feet. Consuming excessive salt might bloat you. Medical issues like high blood pressure might also contribute. Try elevating legs and decreasing salt intake. If swelling persists, consult an orthopedist.

I am a 17-year-old female who is recovering from a mild knee ligament stretch. I had a splint for 2 weeks and had been recovering for over a month. Yesterday, I played badminton because my knee felt good. However, I had an awkward fall and twisted my knee. It hurt at first, but I can walk and climb stairs relatively normally. It hurts when I fully straighten my knee or tighten it. There is no buckling of the knee. The pain is a little achey and a little dull. I don't know which one exactly. What should I do? Is it okay if I resume normal activities, but just be more careful and elevate my leg when I sit or lie down?
Female | 17
You might have twisted your knee again while playing badminton. Aching dull pain when you try to straighten or tighten your knee could mean the ligament has been pulled too hard. It’s great that you can still walk and go upstairs. To let it get better, you should rest as much as possible, put your leg up from time to time, and avoid doing anything too hard for a while.

i am 24 years and my bone mineral density score is -2 and vitamin d level is 14
Male | anvesh
It appears you've been diagnosed with low bone density and vitamin D deficiency, which can lead to bone pain, weak muscles, and fractures. A diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, including dairy products, leafy greens, and sunlight exposure, is crucial for bone health. Your doctor may recommend vitamin D supplements to improve your calcium levels. Additionally, maintaining a nutritious diet and engaging in exercises like running and strength training prescribed by your orthopedic doctor can help maintain bone strength and overall health.

I am Rahat Ullah from Pakistan. Before 2.5 months I have accident on bike with Suzuki my bones were fracture tibia and fibula bone.now my foot upper side skin has deep wound and now that place has pain and swelling please recommend a cream for me.
Male | 23
The swelling and discomfort in your foot may be due to the healing process of your fractures and the deep wound. It's crucial to keep the area clean and protected. For topical care, consider using an antibiotic ointment to prevent infection, but please consult an orthopedist for a personalized recommendation. You may also benefit from elevation and rest to reduce swelling.

Hi, I'm taking 1.5ml of Testosterone Ethanate 300mg/ml once per week but I'm due to get a cortisone injection in my hand for trigger finger in 2 weeks time. Will this be ok to have whilst I'm taking this?
Male | 40
Testosterone Ethanate (T.E.) is a hormone, while cortisone is a medication used to reduce inflammation. Getting a cortisone injection for the trigger finger shouldn't be an issue while on T.E., as they work differently in the body. However, always inform your orthopedist about all medications you're taking. Trigger finger occurs due to tendon inflammation, causing fingers to get stuck in a bent position. A corticosteroid injection can reduce the inflammation and relieve symptoms.

My son has had a snowmobile accident that removed his bicep and the other small muscle on the front of his dominant hand. The ulnar and radial nerve are functional after the initial surgery. He is in the anchorage hospital. But wants the best care and treatment to gain as much use back from his arm as possible. Would he benefit from being moved to a level 1 trauma center from where he is at. Also he wants as rapid of treatment in the healing as possible.
Male | 39
The functioning nerves following the procedure are promising. Relocating him to a trauma facility could benefit recovery, as they focus on treating severe injuries. Immediate care is crucial for optimal healing. The trauma center offers specialized treatment, therapies, and resources for the best possible outcome.

I have a twitch in my middle finger. Right hand.
Female | 27
Finger twitches usually aren't serious issues. They often occur due to fatigue, anxiety, consuming too much caffeine, or lack of sleep. The right middle finger's twitch is annoying but typically harmless. Consider getting more rest, relaxing, reducing coffee intake, and sleeping enough hours. However, if this persists beyond a week, consulting an orthopedic specialist might be advisable.

Hi, I undertand that everyone has paired nasal bones. Is it possible to break one side withiut harming the other? Or is pain on one side after an injury more likely to be a soft tissue injury? Thanks
Male | 25
It's possible to sustain an injury affecting one side of your nasal structure without impacting the opposite side. Pain localized to one area following trauma often suggests a soft tissue issue, such as swelling or bruising, rather than a fracture. However, if there is significant discomfort, difficulty breathing, or visible deformity, it's wise to seek an evaluation from an orthopedist. They can provide appropriate imaging and ensure a proper diagnosis.

My back is tight and it keeps pulsating. If I try to sleep with my back facing the pillow I get these tightness
Male | 28
Tightness and pulsation in your back can stem from muscle strain, stress, or poor posture during sleep. This discomfort may intensify when resting on your back, as certain positions can strain your muscles. To alleviate these symptoms, consider gentle stretching, using a supportive mattress, and practicing relaxation techniques. Heat therapy may also help soothe tension. If the issue persists or worsens, I recommend seeking guidance from an orthopedist for a comprehensive evaluation and personalized treatment plan. Your well-being is important, and getting expert advice can be beneficial.

What is best treatment for ACL disturb from shoulder sife
Male | 44
Your shoulder issue seems like a rotator cuff injury. Pain rises when you lift your arm or reach overhead. You feel weakness in the shoulder area too. It gets tough to move your arm in certain ways. Resting is key for healing. Physical therapy helps strengthen shoulder muscles. If the injury is bad, surgery may be required. Don't do things that make pain worse. Visit an orthopedist for full recovery.

When can i eat chips after jaw surgery?
Male | 34
Since the treatment of jaw surgery, solid as well as crunchy foods similar to chips will be reintroduced into your diet after a period based on how fast you heal. Generally speaking it’s a good idea to start with soft or liquid diet right after the surgery and progressively move up towards firmer consistencies as your doctor recommends. In the first phase, crunchy foods are avoided for several weeks in order to let the jaw heal without putting it under additional strain. Stick to the particular dietary recommendations given by your surgeon, in order for a smooth recovery process.
