Causes of Unexplained Facial Swelling and Pain
my friend literally woke up with a swollen right side of her face. she had experienced pain on her mouth. the dentist could find nothing wrong and prescribed an antibiotic with no results. her face remains swollen with no discomfot or mobility problems. what would have caused this.

Your friend might suffer from sialadenitis, an inflamed salivary gland condition. A blockage prevents smooth saliva flow, causing swelling and pain around the jaw. Since teeth weren't problematic, glands could be the culprit. Warm compresses and water intake might ease discomfort by promoting saliva flow. However, if swelling persists, visiting a dermatologist is advisable for assessment and potential treatment.
