Am I Affected by Basilar Invagination & Degenerative Disc Disease?
Overall imaging findings are suggestive of basilar invagination causing significant compression effect over the proximal cervical cord resulting in compressive myelopathy along with post surgical changes as detailed. Clinical and prior pre-surgical imaging correlation will be helpful. Degenerative disc disease, predominantly at C2-C3 and C3-C4 levels, resulting in moderate radicular compression, as detailed. As per the imaging results, it appears that there is a situation called basilar invagination that presses the brain stem on the superior spinal cord, thus causing the formation of a condition called compressive myelopathy. The squeezing action can result in numbness and poor coordination of the body. In addition, the fact that they have degenerative disc disease at C2-C3 and C3-C4 might also be the cause of the nerve root compression. This pain, tingling, or weakness in the arms may occur. You must meet with your doctor so that the best treatment plan which may consist of, physical exercise, drugs or surgery to unburden the spinal cord if necessary can be discussed. It is not something you can overlook if you aim to prevent further complications and have a better quality of life.

My father is extremely overweight and has COPD and Emphysema, can he have a hip replacement
Male | 78
YES, your FATHER can have a hip replacement surgery.. However, his weight and lung problems can increase the risk of complications during and after the surgery. He will need to work closely with his doctors to prepare for the surgery and manage his conditions. Losing weight and improving lung function before the surgery can help reduce the risk of complications and improve the outcome.. It is important that he follows his doctor's advice and instructions for a safe and successful surgery..

I have knee issues and wanted to know when I want to go to bed if wearing diapers is a good idea or not
Male | 31
At night, it can be difficult to get to the bathroom due to knee pain, making it hard to get up, and accidents might happen. However, this is not a solution for the knee condition itself, but it can help manage the issue until the knee improves. Always consult your doctor to find the best treatment option for your knee problems.

Hello, I had Femur Condylar bone fracture on 25-Dec-2023, when I consult an orthopaedic specialist he suggested it can be cured with Synthetic bandage. However all seems to be good till 45 days no pain and everything looks good at the knee but after 45 days when we opened the bandage they we found one of the bone piece not set properly . But there no pain. And even I can stand and gold my knee upto 90 degrees. My question is 1) what can be done to set this 2) what happens if the leave that like this. 3) Can this be treated again without surgery 4) I had consulted multiple orthopaedic specialists and each of them suggesting different opinions.
Male | 33
As a medical expert, the first advice to you is to consult a reputable orthopaedic surgeon for the correct diagnosis and treatment plan for your femur condylar bone fracture. This may intensify a possible complication later. Surgery might be necessary, but this matter can be only clarified only after a thorough examination of your case.

I’m 29 years old and I have my right arm started off about a month With just my ring finger, in the morning, it would be hard to open. My hands, felt like pulling from the wrist down to my ring finger, and then up to my elbow. now I have constant pain in my wrist leading up to my Ring finger to lift anything pick up anything or grip anything without pain
Female | 49
Carpal tunnel syndrome seems to be your interpretation. A squashed nerve in your wrist, which is accompanied by pain, weakness, and tingling in your hand and fingers, is the cause of this problem. It can be due to overstretching your wrist, as one uses a computer or a phone for a long time. As an alternate solution, you could try wearing a wrist splint, doing hand stretches, and taking breaks from activities that involve overextending your wrist. If the pain persists, see an orthopedist for more advice.

I was not relieved of pain but am leading an active life style somehow mwalkinganaging it as I always fear inactivity will worsen my condition. Now for the past one week I am experiencing severe burning combined with pain when walking. What could be the reason.
Female | 70
The burning pain and pain when you walk can result from various causes, like inflammation, infection, or contradicting the wear and tear of the artificial knee parts. However, it is vital to get it checked by an orthopedist as soon as possible to identify the problem and get the proper treatment.

Backache can be a pulled muscle or sitting in a bad position for long. Tylenol 4 is a type of drug that contains Tylenol which is an over-the-counter medication and codeine that helps to relieve pain. Before taking Tylenol 4, it is essential to consult an orthopedist so they may advise you if it is suitable for you and give directions on how often should one take them among other things.

Hi There, I recently had a full blood count test and a kidney function test to check for any abnormalities, and the results were normal. However, lately, my hands have been feeling full and it’s difficult to open and close them, sometimes causing pain. They do swell slightly, particularly in the morning after I wake up. At night, I can feel blood flowing to my hands, and I experience the same sensation during the day at work.
Female | 32
This can happen if there is pressure on the nerves in your wrist. Repetitive hand movements or certain health conditions are the main culprits. You can do it by using a wrist splint, taking breaks, and doing hand exercises. Also, if the symptoms continue, you should consult an orthopedist for further evaluation.

I do roofing for work. Handle nail guns with nails held together by little brass wire. When you shoot a nail with our nailguns...some brass is always still attached to the nail (about 3 mm) and today I accidentally shot myself on top of my thigh and when I pulled the nail out, no wire came with it. The wound is now healed over (it's been about 10 hours since sending this inquiry) So how dire is it for me to get it professionally removed? Can I just deal with it in there forever? (Pain is 0) Will it poison me over time like lead?
Male | 22
The small piece of brass left in your thigh probably won’t cause any issues. Since the wound is stable and you don't feel any discomfort, you can leave it as it is. Brass is not as toxic as lead, so there's no need to worry about poisoning. Just watch for any redness, swelling, or pain around the area. If you notice anything unusual, it's a good idea to consult an orthopedist.

I fell on my knee and landed on a cement stair corner, it really hurts especially if I try to bend it or sometimes straighten it. It’s tender to the touch and slightly swollen where I hit it and has bruising.
Female | 22
There could have been the case of the contusion, or even a fracture due to trauma to your knee. I advice seeking medical help from an orthopaedic specialist at once to properly diagnose and treat your injury. Until then, you have to keep off the injured leg and try to pacify it with ice for it to get rid of swelling and pain.

I am a 28 years old male. While working out today I felt sudden sharp cramp at my lower back. Feeling that cramp for 1.5 hours. Different body postures making the cramp worse.
Male | 28
It's very important to be attentive to your body, - after all, a period of rest can lead to a significant reduction of the symptoms. Using heat or cold packs to alleviate the pain, and gentle stretching to relieve the tension can be beneficial. However, if the pain does not go away, it gets worse, or other symptoms such as numbness or weakness become more significant, I suggest you go to consult an orthopedist. They will be able to carry out a comprehensive evaluation and develop a treatment plan that will suit your recovery and well-being.

You need thorough clinical examination with a multidisciplinary team of Orthopedic Surgeon/Neurologists. We need to find out at which neural level is the existing problem Eg. Spinal cord, Peripheral nerve. This should be done ASAP which would improve the chances of recovery.

Having leg pain from 30 days
Male | 42
If the pain has been bothering you for a whole month, it is better to get treatment. Besides, leg pain that lasts can be caused by items like strained muscle, abuse, or poor blood circulation. The best solution for leg pain is to rest, apply ice packs, and do light exercises. If the discomfort persists following this treatment, get an opinion from an orthopedist for additional evaluation and medical care.

Female | 60
You may have done a number on your knee with that accident from when you fell down the stairs nine years ago. You could be feeling the pain of that older wound now. Common symptoms of a knee injury are pain, swelling, and difficulty moving. You can attack the pain by first resting your leg, applying cold, and taking pain medication if needed. If the pain continues, it's best to consult a orthopedist, for examination and treatment.
