How should I treat my recent knee injury?
I am a 17-year-old female. I was recovering quite well from a mild knee ligament stretch from over 2 or 3 months ago. It was not fully recovered, though. Yesterday, I had an awkward fall and twisted my knee. It hurt, but after a couple of minutes, I was able to walk relatively normally. There is pain on the sides of thd knee when I fully straighten my knee or tighten it fully. I can still walk and climb stairs. Currently, I am elevating my knee above hip level. How much and how long should I limit my activities? What should I do? Will my injury heal wrongly? Will my cartilage come back fully?

Pain on the outer side of the knee when straightening or fully extending it could mean a sprain. Be sure to rest your knee, apply ice for 15-20 minutes several times a day, and keep it up above your hip level. Stay away from activities that make the pain worse. If it doesn’t get any better, make sure you get it checked out by an orthopedist so that it can heal properly and there won’t be any long-term issues.

Female | 24
Many factors can trigger hip soreness - arthritis or injuries, for instance. If her hip aches, she must take rest, apply ice packs to lessen the swelling, and consume over-the-counter pain relievers. However, if the discomfort persists, consulting an orthopedist for examination and treatment might be necessary.

Hi, I'm Tanille Henrico. I had a decompression and fusion back surgery on my lower back 5 years ago. And I'm on Lyrica 75mg twice a day and Neurontin 500mg three times a day. My back is now starting to get more and more painful by the day. And I must drink extra pain medication every day. What must I do? Please whatsapp me back

Looks like you're suffering from a lot of backache. Even though Lyrica and Neurontin kinds of drugs are being taken, back pain may worsen, and this may be a brand new problem or the deterioration of what used to be. You have to meet your doctor for a check-up to diagnose the cause of the recurrent pain. Sometimes, it is necessary to change your meds or use additional treatments to reduce the pain as much as possible.

I am trying to find the starting point to getting my knees replaced
Knee replacement surgery is done to replace the damaged joints so patient is relieved of symptoms. The knee joint with an artificial knee called prosthesis made of metal, plastic, and ceramic. It helps to restore function of the damaged knee and relieve arthritis pain. Knee replacement surgery is advised if the pain is interfering with your daily activities and negatively affecting your quality of life. Types of knee replacement surgery Simultaneous bilateral knee replacement - When both knees are replaced at the same time. The primary advantage of a procedure is that there is only one hospital stay and one rehabilitation period to heal both knees. But rehabilitation may be slower. Also these patients may need assistance at home also. Generalized fitness is important here. Staged bilateral knee replacement- Each knee is replaced at a different time. These surgeries are done a few months apart. This staged approach helps one knee to recover before the second surgery. The main advantage of a this procedure is the reduced risk of complications and also requires a shorter hospital stay. However, since this procedure requires two surgeries, the overall rehabilitation period can be longer. Either surgery may involve any combination of total knee replacement or partial knee replacement. The risks associated with this surgery: infection, blood clots, failure of the artificial joint, heart attack etc. Post surgery care, rehabilitation is very important. Hope our answer helps you. I am24 year old suffering with back pain
Male | 24
It may have been caused by lifting heavy objects and straining your muscles or having a bad posture. Once in a while, this pain is usually associated with problems in the spine or disks. To help relieve the pain, try doing some mild stretching exercises, using hot or cold packs, and avoiding activities that make it worse. If it doesn’t go away or get any better after a while then I think it would be wise if you consulted an orthopedist about it.

I have suddenly randomly gotten lower back pain right above my tail bone out of the blue. No prior injuries or accidents. It does not spread but is a 24 7 constant pain and a little warm. My mid spine was also sore for about 2 days but has gone now and hasn't come back but the back pain is still there. It has been like this for almost 3 months. Excerises helps for atleast 20min and then the pain comes back again. Sitting and lying down is the worst. I can't sit for more than 10min.

Low back pain down to both legs
Male | 36
Sciatica causes your back nerve to feel squeezed. This makes both legs hurt, tingle, or go numb. You can try resting, using ice packs or heating pads, and gentle stretches. But don't wait too long - if leg pains remain, you should see an orthopedist. Further exams and treatments may be needed to address this common back problem.

torn ligaments a few times in r. knee. Knee is very stiff and will not straighten to walk properly.

You may have hurt some of the ligaments in your right knee. This could happen when you twist or injure your knee. Ligament tearing can lead to stiffness and difficulty in straightening your knee properly. Therefore, it is important to rest, apply ice to the knee to reduce swelling, and do gentle exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knee. If the pain and stiffness worsen, it is better to see an orthopedist for a check-up.

Hi, I got injured while playing football above the ankle but the damage interfered with the ankle thus resulting to severe pains how can I control it
Male | 20
I suggest you consult with an orthopedic specialist right away. This injured ankle may have damaged the joint, which led to a throbbing pain. During this time, you may relieve the pain by applying ice to the affected area; taking antinflammatory medicine and keeping your leg elevated. But these are only short-term fixes, which would require an official diagnosis and treatment from a specialist.
